MY STORY

I have always loved writing and taking pictures. In 2013, I graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of Kansas, but I put that creative dream on hold to pursue another dream: playing professional softball. All the while, I documented my time as a college and professional athlete on a blog that I called Competing for His Glory.

After my softball days ended, I got married to Kevin and we started a family, but my love of writing never changed. In 2018 before the birth of our first child, I started a new blog called Rise Redeemed and bought my first (real) camera.

Meanwhile, I finished my Masters Degree in Business Administration in 2019 and gained most of my first decade of fundraising and branding experience with a global Christian non-profit ministry called Young Life. In 2022, I accepted a part-time position at Free City Church as the Communications Director. In this small organization, we didn’t have professional photos handed to us. I had to create them. My photography hobby evolved into a service that I started to offer close family and friends.

But let’s be real—between working part-time and having four young kids, the time I had to devote to writing and photography were few and far between. As they became (a bit) older, it was time to take my business dream off hold and make it a reality.

I formally launched Maggie Tietz Creative in January 2026 with a firm belief that providing beautiful photos should be affordable and simple, and practical marketing help should be available. Whether you’re hiring me for photography or marketing, or here for the real life stories on my blog, I hope to help you capture moments simply, know your brand, and encourage you as you create your own story.
